Star Anise Seed Pods
Whole Allspice
Peppercorns Whole Nutmeg Cardamom (not shown)
Break up larger spices like cinnamon and nutmeg into smaller pieces.
I like to store them in a jar. This keeps them handy for making mulling spice bags for hot spice apple cider or mulled spiced wine.
When you're ready to make hot spice apple cider or hot mulled red wine, pour a generous amount of the spice blend into a small muslin cotton bag. My bags are 3 x 4 inches. Tie the bag tight.
1. Fill a saucepan with apple cider. 2. Add mulling spice bag 3. Heat on low and simmer for 30 min. 4. Pour into mugs and enjoy. Garnish if desired.
