Free Printable DIY Botanical Paper Banner
If you’ve been around TCL for a while, then you know this isn’t my first vintage botanical banner and that I’m a bit obsessed with all things botanicals, especially if it’s a free printable. Just last month, I created this Printable Botanical Wall Hanging with 2 designs. It makes me smile daily!
I also have these botanical DIY Crafts below.

How to Make a Paper Banner
Easy to make paper banner, bunting or garland tutorial.
Materials
- Printable Botanical Papers
- String, Twine or Ribbon
Tools
- Triangle Template or Banner Punch Board Tool
- Paper Cutter
- Scissors
- Hole punch (if you're not using the punch board)
Instructions
- Download and print desired botanical patterns from The Printable Vault.
- Using the template cutter or a paper template, cut 5 to 7 triangles in the size you want.
- Create a small hole on each corner of each pennant. If you're using the Punch Board, it has a built-in hole punch at the very top.
- Measure out the length of string you need and start stringing pennants. I like to make sure the string goes across the back.
- Hang and enjoy!
Notes
Search Google for a paper banner template if needed.
Paper Banner Template
Before I started using the Making Memories Punch Board, I used to just use a template in the shape I wanted. I’d cut it out of something thicker than regular printer paper and then I’d place it on my paper, lightly trace around with a pencil and use scissors to cut it out.
You can Right-Click this template above and save it right to your computer. Then just print it and cut.
This DIY Botanical Paper Banner looks great for home decorating, weddings, or parties. Hang it anywhere you need a touch of spring.
How to Hang a Paper Banner
To hang your paper banner, use string, twine, ribbon, or yarn. It all depends on where you plan to use it. If you are using it for something more formal like a bridal or baby shower, you may consider using a satin or velvet ribbon. Otherwise, choose the material that fits your use. One thing to consider though is the size of string. Some materials are thicker and may require a larger hole on your paper banner pieces. If you try threading too large of a ribbon into a smaller hole, it will rip and not slide easily for stringing or repositioning your triangles.
I usually use a couple of tacks for each end, but you could also tie a loop at the ends of the string to hang on a hook.
